Epson G6070 Print Speed Units: m²/h?

Epson likes to advertise print speed in square meters per hour, which looks good on a spec sheet, but in a DTF shop what really matters is how many linear meters you are getting while printing at a usable quality. On the G6070, in real world 8 pass style printing for solid, opaque transfers, you are looking at around 3 meters per hour.

For comparison, the Chinese dual head DTF printers I run behind me are comfortably hitting around 6 meters per hour, so you are basically cutting your speed in half with this single head setup. The automatic nozzle check and cleaning on the Epson is genuinely helpful for keeping that 3 m/h consistent without you constantly babysitting it, but it does not change the fact that this thing is noticeably slower than a good dual head production machine.

In my own shop at AMS, we run four 24 inch dual head DTF printers every day. When we are in a real production groove, those machines can comfortably hold around 6 meters per hour in DTF production without constant clog chasing or nonstop tinkering.

Because of that, and looking at Epson’s own numbers, I put the G6070 in that single head category that tends to top out around 3 to 4 meters per hour in the real world, while a solid dual head setup can push closer to 6 to 8 meters per hour if you are willing to tune it and keep it moving.

I do not have a G6070 sitting in my building, but in the research clips I watched, the meters per hour readout on the home screen lined up pretty closely with what actually came off the roll, which is good. The tradeoff is that all the automatic nozzle checks and cleaning cycles are using ink the entire time, so your true cost per meter is higher than what the spec sheet alone would suggest.

That is why I keep telling people, treat Epson’s maximum speed chart as a marketing number and mentally knock it down once you factor in a usable pass mode for DTF plus all of the automated maintenance. It is not that the G6070 is a bad printer, it just is not the rocket ship the spec sheet makes it sound like if you do not dig into how it actually runs.
